HISTORIC WEDDING!

On May 25 at 7pm, Geral Hersey (great great grandson of Timothy and Elizabeth Hersey, founders of Abilene) married Kay Campton in a private ceremony on the front porch of Abilene’s historic Lebold Mansion, where the Hersey log cabin once stood. The original 1856 dugout dwelling that later became the cabin basement was preserved by Conrad H. Lebold as part of the basement when he built the mansion in 1880. The Honorable John E. Barker officiated the ceremony with two witnesses from the Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau and mansion owner Joseph Tatner in attendance. The couple then visited the original room dug out by Timothy Hersey.
